Putting the dash back together and noticed the back side of this actuator valve looks like something is broke off. The side facing the passenger side has the prongs for the plug and a hose connection. The side towards the driver side has a hose connection pointing toward the firewall and a little hole pointing towards the driverside of the car. My AIM book looks like there is a little square thing where the hole is. Does this need to be plugged or some kind of vent, do I need to plug it? I don't even know if it works. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks
Lonnie

If I recall correctly, that square thing in the AIM is a piece of foam, it acts like a noise filter.

That is kind of what that looks like. So I guess I don't need to plug it off?

No need to plug it, and yes, there should be a small square of foam rubber on that nipple(hehehe....he said "nipple"... )/

That is basically a opening to allow the vacuum to work on the other side of the canister. If it is plugged, or it wasn't there at all, there would be vacuum on both sides, more or less, and the thing wouldn't be able to move correctly....in other words, it's just a vacuum dump(or, as you said, a vent). The foam piece is to keep trash(dirt, etc.) out of the canister. I'd find a small piece of foam to stick on it, just to keep the crap out.
