Thanks for the info on the headlamp doors.Thumbs%20Up Great Help
Is there the same info for the wiper door? My 72 will not
come up and the wipers won't  work ( I don't drive it in the rain anyway )
but it would be nice that it works if I ever need them.

Thanks for the help

Dean, I may have some t-shooting info at home...I'll check this eve, and if I do, I'll send it your way, if no-one else can get something to you before then.

You could have either a vacuum issue OR an electrical issue. First thing to check tho, is make sure the wiper-door over-ride switch is on...this is the small round knob between the two pull-down switches under the steering column. More than one person has forgotten about the knob/switch, and couldn't figure out why the wipers didn't work!
This switch is so you can stop the wipers mid-swipe, and change the wiper blades. It simply kills the power to the wipers. If the switch gets turned with the wipers down in the parked position, then they won't "work" until the switch is turned again.

If Joel can't find anything, e-mail me.  We have a scanned copy of an old troubleshooting guide.  It is several large files, so I won't try to send it unless you need it.

Well that could be the problem. Confused  There is no over-ride switch (have the wires and plug) and no vacuum valve ( have lines that are pluged off) Cry

A very goog place to start. Thumbs%20Up Corvette Central will be getting a E-mail order very soon.

Thanks for all your HELP
Dean

Try just jumping the two wires on the plug to see if the wipers will work that way. If they do, then you just need to put the switch in.

You should have two vacuum over-ride valves there, too. One for the wiper door, and one for the headlights.

After sticking my head under the dashOuch and jumping the two wires the wipers still won't work. I manually open the wiper door by hand that trips the switch on the firewall and then the wipers work.Thumbs%20Up There has to be something that tells the door to open when you turn the wiper switch on. I placed a hose between the vacuum over-ride and still the door won't open. Something electrical has to tell the door to open.
WHAT NEXT???????

So....your wippy door doesn't open first? The door has to open before the wipers will work(I guess you figured that out, eh?)
So...sounds more like you have a vacuum problem.
There is, however, an electical vacuum solenoid for the wippy door, that does go bad, and can cause the door to not open. Problem is...it's attached to the back of the tach...behind the dash...

after going back and reading your original post, I see now that you DID say the door wouldn't open... I'm such a doofus...

Did I send you the Vacuum info? If not, what I have should get it troubleshooted for ya. P/M me if you don't have anything from me, and I'll e-mail it to ya.

There is also a vac. relay just over the wheel well on the pass. side.  First I would check the vac. canister on the firewall that opens the door.  I have had trouble with the seals in this.  If it is that it is a relatively easy fix.  Do your headlights open and close properly?
