There are a lot of components to the wiper door. The elec. solenoid Joel spoke of, the vac. canister, the relay over the wheel well, another one in the drip area in front of the windshield and the pull down over-ride under the steering column. Not to mention the wiper switch itself. Hopefully it is only one compoent and not a combination of issues. It is a frustrating one to deal with.

Well...I managed to get ALL of the vacuum stuff I have on one file...but it's STILL too large for me to e-mail easily. I did "Zip" it up, and made the file size a little smaller...barely, but it did appear to go thru on the e-mail...
Let me know if ya got it, Dean...I'm curious to know if this dial-up turd was able to load it...

Thanks for this thread, and for the information Joel. I wondered what those knobs were under the dash and now I know. (By the way, what are those two pull-down switches?)

The one one the left should be an over-ride for the headlights. Probably originally designed to open them for cleaning w/o having to turn them on or if the vac. on the switch were to malfunction. The one on the right is for the wiper door for basically tthe same reason.

Yeah...what TIm said...
The original intention was so the headlights and the wiper door could be left open in freezing weather, even tho they were supposed to be able to "punch" thru 1/4" of ice. In reality, it didn't work, so they put the over-rides on there so you could pull them, and the headlight/wiper doors would open, and then you wouldn't be stuck with no headlights or wipers the next time ya wanted to drive, due to ice/snow build-up on the doors.
The wiper door system was such a crappy deal they finally just left the door off, and simply lengthened the hood starting in '73.

I got the e-mail and was able to open it.
I read it over and its is simple system wants you understand how it works. I haven't went through the step by step procedure to find the problem. ( getting ready for car shows Saturday and Sunday
) Will let every one know what I found.

Thanks for all your help

Dean
PS There needs to be a technical reference library for members only on the C3VR web site.

There is a tech section here, located under the "Research" button at the tops of the pages. Right now, the tips/tricks selection is limited, but it can be added to at any time...ya just need to submit your tech tips/info(anyone can do this
).
Otherwise, just posting a request for info will usually turn up what you are looking for.
