Got caught in the rain today and discovered that there is no low speed on my wipers:( The switch was replaced last year, but I never checked to see if both speeds work. It seems to be high speed only. The wiring diagram just shows 3 connections on the motor. So, is the motor defective? The wiring? Am I missing something? Help, PLEASE!

Did both speeds work before the switch replacement?
Without looking at the WD, I'm assuming that the motor has two sets of windings. So you need to check for voltage at the motor connections on both speeds. If there's voltage on both then the motor may be bad. Also need to check for 12V at the switch.

Wiper motor will always have 12v on the connector with the key on. The wiper SWITCH provides the ground to make it work. Since they work on high speed, you have 12v at the connector. You either have a malfunctioning switch, or a bad connection at the wiper motor. Possible the wiper motor is faulty too, but it's more likely the problem is with the switch, or the connector.
I can email you the troubleshooting info on the wiper system...gimmie a minit...
Sent you the 74 wiring diagrams and the wiper info...hope it helps.

I had the same problem on my '75. They never worked on low speed. I finally traced it down to the connector, which someone had spliced into -- they had crossed two wires. Don't ask me how long that took to find. Adams' Apple's diagram helped with testing the wiper motor itself.
