It's gotta be a short to ground somewhere....strange that it just happened like that, tho. I'd be looking closely at the wiring for the wiper motor under the hood, for sure.

If you happened to bump the front cover on it(either of you), it could have bent or otherwise caused the points to stick closed, which would keep the motor running, but it still shouldn't run without a ground signal from the wiper switch. The wiper motors have 12v any time the key is on...the wiper switch provides the ground...

Hey Joel, I took the motor out again and found some plastic electrical part that is cracked..it is below the pump..it looks like it might be some kind of micro switch that stops the motor in the park position..I always had that problem where it won't go to the park position all the time..I will hunt around for another old wiper motor that might have the same part in it..I haven't looked in the original shop manual to see if anything is in there about it but that's where I am headed also..they used to rebuild this stuff..some one has this part..

hey did you guys ever get the wiper issue fixed?
I got up early today so i can drive the mistress to warm her up. so i can get to work on the grinding noise from the rear end and I'm not kidding i pulled into the garage turned the car off. then turned the key back on and the wipers started to WIPE on their own and wont stop! had to unplug them.
they old lady said its happened to her once before and fiddling with the switch stopped them.
thnx
J
I haven't played with this since I don't drive in the rain and it's pretty much parked for the winter..I will do something with it this winter though..as well as a few other things..
