Oh what have I done!! While connecting the power to the cigarette lighter, I shorted to ground & lost the courtesy lights. I replaced the fuse. The problem gets worse...nothing works, ignition, horn courtesy lights, nothing! I have 12v at the battery and have checked all fuses in the fuse box. There are 2 fuse at the battery and they also check out good with an ohm meter. OH what have I done!
Any ideas?? OH Corvette Gurus in the sky, I look to you for help!

Sounds like a fusible link has scorched. Yours being an 82 may also
have a relay that I am unaware of. One of the experts wil chime in
soon. Don't panic my friend...I am confident help is on the way.

Panic, I think you mean PANIC!!!!

I think you are right about the fuseable link. I was told there's a fuseable link by the starter. I'm going back out to look now. I just can't see me driving the GEO to Carson City, although, gas mileage would be better....Thanks Scott

Mike, The shop manual shows a red fusible link connecting to the starter solenoid. Manual shows "Red fusible links A and B" but also shows one as being purple in color.

Also check the fuse in the battery compartment - runs right off the positive to the junction for the ECM power, if that pops, no start. I believe there is a fusable link at the starter.
IT"S ALIVE!!! While checking for the fuseable link at the starter, I found the wires were loose. I did check each wire for breaks, burnt or "elastisity", but all the wires were solid. I couldn't find a "weak" wire anywhere. I did find a bad fuse. When I replaced it, my courtest lights came back on One leg was short & bent. Funny, but it still checks out ok with the ohm meter. Maybe it breaks contact when installed? I went for a drive on a bumpy dirt road and checked the wires again when I returned. All seemed fine. Looks like maybe I had a couple of problems. I want to thank all of you for the help. I would still be in "PANIC" mode, without your help!
thanks!! mike
