Vette(s): 1970 stingray, t-top, mulsanne blue with black interior, 406 ci with 444 hp, racing suspension, hooker headers/sidepipes - SOLD :(
I'm lookin for the front and rear tire size for the 70 coupe...discountire.com says 225/70/15s, but I'm thinking that's just the rear, not the front as well. anyone have an idea?

well the original size was F70/15
the new equivalent sizeis in between a 215 and 225/70R15
225 all the way around works well.. 235/70 usually does not.
however .. 245/60 and 255/60 usually work as well..
245/60 is pretty safe.. 255/60 you need to check clearances..

Stock is the same size all around. "Zen-master Ken" (aka kstyer) had done some research a while back on the correct tire dimension and posted it in another thread. A little browsing should turn it up.
When I moved from 15" to 16" wheels I made sure I got tires that were the closest to the original's overall dimensions.

I'm trying to stay fairly close while getting a little bit of a wider appearance as you look straight on...I'm gonna go with 235/55/17s in both front and back, Pirelli P0 tires. My problem is wheels, and my problem with wheels is finding the right offset and still looking good. Right now I'm shopping for what I'm gonna be driving on around town to look all pretty...17", 8" width, preferrably a chromed 5-spoke, for the looks...and even better, a removable cap so I can buy center caps from Corvette America and put em on there...I found some wheels that I like, the only problem is the center cap, and boy is it a problem...the Hot Wheels symbol.

anyone know of some other 5 spokes that look real good? and have the right offset?

It took a bit of hunting, but the original F70-15 is almost the exact same diamiter as a 255/60-15. It also translates to just a bit smaller than a 215/70-15. It would be about a 211/70-15 or 212/70-15 if such a thing was made in a 70 series.

my business partner bought a set of cragar 17 x8" 5 spokes with 4" offset with 255/50/17 tires on his 49 chevy truck they are 27 inch diameter..
I tried these on my vette.. mounted all four and drove it around.. they fit great.. they clear the calipers which is one of the major things you need to watch for on a vette.
ken says 255/60/15 is the right diameter for the match with f70/15 well 255/60/15 255/55/16 255/50/17 255/45/18 are all 27 inch diameter.
personally I would go with the 255/50/17 or 255/45/18
they leave a 5" and 4.5" sidewall respectively which is enough to keep your ride from suffering and doenst look ricey..
and since 25.4 mm = 1" 255 tires are ten inches wide..
the 235's you picked out are about 9 1/4" inches wide and have a 27 1/8" diameter.. so the 255/50/17 would be exactly the right diameter and as wide as you can take a stock vette

Vette(s): 1969 Daytona Yellow Coupe - ZZ4/4 speed, Hurst shifter, Griffin aluminum radiator w/ Dual Spals, March Serpentine Pulley kit, Hookers with STS Racing Baffles, VB&P Suspension bits, 17" AR Hopsters, L-88 Hood
These are American Racing Hopsters - 17X8, 4 inch backspacing with BF Goodrich G-Force T/A 255/50/17's all the way around. They're off the car now so I can put them on the Vette I'm buying, but they sure looked good while on.
