Can anyone help me with; How wide can the wheels be in the rear? Also what brands, with the proper offset would work? What size tires recommended? While we are talking wheels/tires, what size tire would be recommended on the front 17" rim, 8" wide (or any size recommended)?

Vette(s): 69 Conv #'s match 427, TKO-600/.64, 3.36HD-Posi, HT, T/T, PS, PB, PW, SP, Leather, Comp XE264HR & Roller Rockers & Lifters, Air-Gap RPM intake, Holley St Av 770 VS, MSD 6AL+Dist+Blaster SS, K&N, Jet-Hot Hooker Side-Pipes, Steeroids, Al Rad, Spal Fans

the tires in the rear can be pretty wide.

I plan on using 305/35R19's in the back and 255/45R18 in the front.

the best tire size for the front on a 17x8 (4" offset) would be 255/50R17 (this maintains the 27 inch diameter)

the two inch offset trailing arms arent even needed on some rims of 17" or larger size.

I put a set of cragar SS wheels with 255/50R17 on one and they fit just fine.

Thanks for the info....it really helps. As far as the rear wheels/tires, I already bought the 2"inch offset arms. I want to stay with 17" wheels. Would I get wheels with a 6"inch offset for the rear? Also rim width 10"? Any ideas of tires sizes without adding flares to the fenders?

the two inch offset wont hurt anything for sure, they mostly just allow you to use a wider tire without rubbing the parking brake cable and bracket.

255/50R17 on all four would be a good size.  with 10" wheels you could do 285/45r17

Vette(s): 2005 Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic Coupe --------------------- Sold 1974 T-top, 4 spd to BillKS

I have 17X8's on the front and rear of my 74.  The fronts rub some on hard turns, but overall, work fine.  Just got to be careful on the sharp turns.  I'm using 255/50R17 Kumhos all around.  As you can see by the pic below, they are still inside the body line with no flares needed. Good luck.

Fantastic looking. The wheels are perfect for the Vette. My car is the same color, but without the rightside mirror, thanks for the info, Larry
