All of this tire talk made pull out the paperwork from when I bought the rims and tires. I ordered 225s because that was what on the car previously. Big O wrote up 235's and that is what Coker sent. I had them mounted and put them on the car at the body shop. We couldn't turn the tires because the hit the ground effects.

Big O recognized their mistake and ordered in 225's and made the swap. Today it rides on the same 225 75R 15 redlines. It had been a while so I went out and pulled up the cover to verify just what I had put on a few years back.

I have changed front spoilers from an Indy style to a OEM pace car spoiler. Every once in a while the tires rub ever so slightly in a hard turn. Maybe the difference is in the spring tension, mine are OEM. It does have new shocks on it but they shouldn't have an effect on the ride height.

I have the 255 60-15 on my 75 with no problems.  BUT they are too big by Chevy specs.  Many folks believe our cars had the same as 225 70 -15, but that's not true.  They came with F70-15 which was smaller than a 225, and just a touch smaller than 215, in a 70 series  ( about a 211 or 212).   Oddly the 255 60 is almost the same outer size as the F70.

In 78 when the new C3 came in we thought there was a problem with the fenders,   they were notched at the rear of the front wheels, and to a lesser degree at the front.  Then we found this was a mod to allow the 255 60 tires.  In 79 you could not see this trimming, and the wheel wells and fenders were modified to allow the larger tires.  (Yes I was working for Chevy starting in 77 until the early 80's)

Some early C3s won't allow the 60s no matter what.  There were just too many varitions in body construction.  Not tight tolerances.   Some will not work with worn springs.  I put new spring in the front and rebuild the front end.  Mine clear, but yours may not.

Ahhhhh, there are the answers we were waiting on. Thanks Zenmaster Ken for the insight. That makes better sense to me.

Now, rumor has it a certain red car has had some graphics added to it. You would'nt happen to be able to obtain a few discreet pics now would you?

Not all the graphics are there yet.  Just on the hood, nothing on the rear bumper.  And the hood needs to be cleared yet.  But yes I have a few pics.   I'll make a post.
