Topic: 70 versus 60 series tires
in Forum: C3 Engines, Driveline and Handling
Is there any advantage to running the "near original" sized 70 series tires versus the better handling 60 series tires?
I am planning on switching back to the original rims. Tire considerations - either 245 60R15 (x4) or 225 70R15 (x4).
Thanks,
Bret
Thanks again Ken. Your posting is really appreciated.
I was also thinking that being the car was designed with 70's, it would be easier on the suspension hardware. I am interested in long drives, so durability is a consideration.
70's it is.

With the extra rubber on the ground with a 60 series, it takes extra steering wheel effort as well. My '78 with 60 series BFG's and power steering has about the same steering effort as my '69 big block without power steering and 70 series rubber.

I personally have run 255/60/15 on both my c3's ive had..
I like the better handling of the 60.. the change in ride quality is insignificant.
225/70 and 255/60 are both 27" tires.. so the diameter is correct.. 245/60 is a little short..
hi
i drive an 1981 with 255 /45 /18.
