I would like to know what color they were when installed at the factory in 1972? I bought a new power steering cylinder and it's silver and I think black is correct? thanks.

Yeppers...should be a satin, or semi-gloss black.

I bought one recently from a catalog and it came primer gray, too.  They must be trying to shave some pennies off their cost...  Painted mine semi-gloss black.
