the offset is measured from the rear of the wheel mounting flange to the inside edge of the wheel, because you have after market wheels you are going to have to pull the F&R wheel to get that measurement, stock wheels are usually 3 5/8" or 3 3/4""s on the inside, stock wheels F&R came with the same offset, after market depending what the owner wanted...??? anips 2009-09-10 18:28:17
can any one tell me the excact off set for the 80 is it 3 5/8 or 3 3/4 getting ready to send my wheels off to get the the offset changed and the front wheels have to be on the money. The rear wheels have offset trailing arms so im safe. another question I have 285 on the rear and I want to go to 295 what is the difference in with of the two? That will determine what my offset will be. My current wheels offset is 5 1/2 and I have no room to spare with the 285 and offset trailing arms. I have a 10 wheel. I had to take off my rear stable bar to put wheels on. My rear wheel actually has a shiner from rubbing.

All 69-82's used 8" wheels with a 4" backspace. If your wheels are wider than 8", you must increase the backspace by one half of the increase in width. So your 10" wheels need an extra inch of backspacing, for 5" total. This will center the new wheels the same as the stock. Of course, you can change any of that based on how much room you have inside or outside in the fenderwell.

offset trailing arms help but the one thing you can't change is the frame kick, when figuring inside tire clearance start with measuring from frame rail to the hub flange, then wheel offset, and allow for tire bulge past outer wheel lip, personally 10's on a vette looked good in the 60's, not so much now.
