Rick's post about his noise reminded me to post this...

When I am going about 5 MPH or less, along side a cement median (great for sound reflection) I hear what I'll describe as a rubbing sound that occurs faster or slower as the car moves faster or slower.

Here's the catch... when I put even the slightest pressure on the brakes, the noise stops.

|headscratch|

Any thoughts?

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

I think that the disc brakes are making the noise. nothing to worry about. The pads rub on the disc and makes the rubbing noise. |smile| |cheers| |cheers|

I agree, that is typical of most GM models. I just hate the screeching noise they make when the wear bar starts to touch.

A lot of guys remove the springs from behind the caliper pistons to minimize the rubbing noise.

Mine makes the same irritating noise. Applying slight pressure to the brake pedal eliminates the noise so I'm guessing it must be the brake pads... |headscratch| |hammer|
