Well, my steeroids conversion arrived last week and a check of the parts showed two missing brackets.  A quick call to Larry's folks at Corvette Specialty got the missing parts on the way dirctly from the steeroid folks.  The brackets are supposed to arrive today by FedEx and the weather is warm enough for some garage time this weekend.  The instructions with the steeroids package specify where to use loctite but they do NOT specify a specific number loctite to use.  They do specify high strength red but Loctite makes a variety of RED stuff.  Any suggestions of what to use that will do the job without requiring the incredible hulk to disassemble in case I need to backtrack?

Thanks anyway guys, but I managed to get a live person at Steeroids tech support and got a recommendation of LocTite #271.  Would have been simpler if they had just put that in their instructions to begin with.  Ill keep eveyone posted on how it goes.

I've been toying with the idea to do that job also. Keep good notes, I may need them Confused
Good luck with the conversion, wish I was close to you, I could give you a hand and take my own notes.
Have fun,
Dave

Chip, once you assemble with Loctite, you only need some heat...it will come back apart. In my carreer I always would leave a note on what had Loctite. That way the guy after me or even myself knew what to do. Best of Luck to you Chip.........and swearing and blood will be shedRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
Many loctite bottles are red, but have different color product which is identified on the package.

The red is the most agressive, followed by the blue, then either green or purple.    The other of the green or purple, (I forget but I think green) is the one that is used to wick in place after the fastener is already installed, and the weakest.

The red will often require heat to remove the fastener.

I like the blue (243) no problem to remove.

I just finished doing this mod.  See the thread "P/S does not have much assist".  Your going to love it.  Drove mine on 40 miles of twisty mountain roads today, its like a new car now.  Even let my 17 year old daughter drive it with me at her side.  Wasn't comfortable letting anybody drive it before with all the play it had.

I had an unexpected delay and havent started yet.  Perhaps this weekend will be the time.  Ive got everything laid out and tolls on the workbench, just havent been able to get to it.  Im looking forward to it and have heard many positive comments.  Ethan, did you remove your old steering as one unit or in pieces.  I was going to separate mine and remove the steering box separately but cant find a pitman arm puller that will get in between the pitman arm and frame, guess Ill remove it all as one piece.

Mine dropped out really easily all together.  I have aftermarket headers so I took Lf side off for more clearence.  I would think if you have stock ex. manifold it should be no problem.  I'm slow  so there is no way I could have done this job in the 5 hours that they say it is possible in.  Little things like the new replacement steering shaft had to be cleaned up because they embossed some lettering on it that would not allow the support bearing to slide on.   On mine grinding/cutting on the motor mount bracket took extra time but tech support said that was not needed on all Corvettes because of tolerence differences between each car...... I did not have to mess with the steering column like others have so that was good.  Have fun!

Im not planning on getting it done in the time they state either, Im not in a hurry here.  Yep, I ran into the intermediate shaft problem when I was doing my test fitting.  Not only was the embossed lettering too big, I couldnt begin to get the shaft through the support bearing.  I had to "polish" the entire shaft length.
