Vette(s): 1962 - 1963 - 1965 - 1980 1986 Roadster 1979 - L-82 - 1989 Roadster 1990 ZR-1.
I am ready to purchase a set of shocks for this 79 L82. From my research, I have settled on Bilstein's.
For 78-82 Corvette, these are the choices.
4 Sport Shocks: $285.00 plus shipping.
4 Heavy Duty: $300.00 plus shipping.
Is there a Delco comparable to these? I believe that Bilstein is making shocks for the later Corvettes, is this true? If anyone has any experience with these, I would appreciate it.

Well I got bilsteins to put into my 79. I still need to install them, in order to give you a report on them. My trial migh be different since I got new springs and sway bars also. The rear spring is a composite also. All I can tell you now is they looked cool in the box! |laugh|

Good to hear that you guy's picked Bilsteins. Now I feel better about it. I read where they have or are making shocks for GM on their high end vehicles. Maybe Corvette?

I have bilsteens and they are good shocks. Before the front left and the rear right shocks were completely shot but the car rode smooth for a vette. now its firm but not too firm

Don't have Bils yet on my vette, but plan on it. I run a Saab Turbo in SCCA events (stock class) with a set of very old Bils on it, and they still perform like new....amazing shocks and very high quality. Konis are also an excellent choice with a lot of the road racers using them as well.

I installed Bilstein shocks when I upgraded my suspension this past summer to the VBP Street and Slalom kit. Since I changed everything including the bushings from worn beat rubber to poly its difficult to say how just the Bilstein shocks compared to the also beat down wore out shocks I had on it. But the car rides and handles soooo much better than it ever has for me. It feels like an entirely different car...in a good way.

Well I just ordered a set of Bilstein sport shocks from Corvette America. As a result of this forum and a little research still by far the best price going at $250.00 / set. Delivery on Friday and installed by Saturday, I'll let you know how they work]
