Hi
I bled all barkes on my 68 and replaced the complete fluid at the same time.
I only used the caliper's bleed ports.
What are the master cylinder's bleed ports for ?

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

My installation manual says to always bench bleed the master cylinder before inastallation to save time and prevent spongy brake problems lateron. it goes on: On many power brake installations, including Corvette, The master cylinder is placed on an upward slant (nose up). Because of this, it is particularily important to bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it on the vehicle. this will prevent air from being trapped in front of the secondary and primary pistons. After installing the master cylinder, it will be necessary to bleed the entire brake system. Every trace of air must be removed to achieve a hard pedal.

So, do I get this right.
No need to bleed the MC ?
The pedal feels good, much better as B4.
I had lots of air in both back calipers and the fluid looked dark and dirty.
The front was ok, no air and the old fluid was clear.
Anyway, I changed all fluids, so should be ok for a while now.
By the way, my brakes are brute mechanical food force, no PS.
The no PS and no PB non options where one of the reasons, why I was able to get the car .

if the master clyinder was on the car and all you did was change fluid, you do not have to bleed the m/c, normally bleeding the m/c is when you install a new one.

I was reading some messages on another forum today, and I ran across a very cheap way to build a pressure bleeder. All of the parts are very accessible, Ace Hdwe, Wal mart, etc,etc. I'm thinking about building one for the vette. Bleeding the brakes on that thing is a big pain in the butt. This little doodad should make it very easy.
