The best way is to con someone else into doing it for you!!!

I use a long, 3/8" extension, and a 9/16" wobble socket,(or a deep socket with a wobble adaptor). Its easier to do this stuff if you take the driver's seat out, but not necessary. The upper two nuts are the hardest to get to. Patience is good, here!

Hey,  I did this on my 81. I took the dash off, took the seat out and the center console. And have Patience. The hardest bolt is the upper left one. You can't see it just feel for it. The tools that the other guy said is a must. Pay attention on how you take the push rod off the the pedal and how you take apart the dash waring. I put the dash Waring in wrong and had to take it apart again. The whole thing took me three hours in the sun. Man that suck. Once you do this you will understand why we pay the corvette mechanics 90+ hour to work on these things.

I have recently replaced the booster on my '80. If relacing the Fuel Line on a C3 is supposed to be the worst Job You can do then changing out the Booster should be second. Plan on saving up a weeks worth of Patience before You even start. Go visit You local Tool Supply and buy every Extention and Wobble Socket ever Made. Order a New Speedo Cable and all the Light Bulbs in the Dash cause Your never going to want to go in there again. Check Your First Aid Kit and make sure its got lots of Band Aids. Lock up any and all Fire Arms before You start.Find a Local Corvette Shop who is willing to do this and don't ask what it costs.   PS If You don't allready have a Replacement Booster You might want to Try "Booster Dewey" in Portland Oregon. All he dose for a living is rebuild these things and he sells them on an exchange. Most any Classic Car. You have a couple of Options of Finish on the outside as well including Chrome but that option isn't for Shallow Pockets.

I just did a complete brake rebuild and the booster is definately a test of patience.  It only has 4 bolts that hold it to the dash, and a pin/clip that holds the push rod, but you will want to take your time.  I suggest that you do the booster and master cylynder together, as they generally cost less if you get them as a unit.  I did not take my dash apart, but I did get to play gymnast, laying upside down in the seat under the dash.  Long extensions, u-joint adapters, and a combination of wratchet and wrench will get the job done.  I absoulutly resist paying a mechanic to work on my car.  Good luck,

JR

That is one of the most PIA job on the corvette. I did mine when I converted to hydoboost. My dash was already out but it still was not easy.

I let the shop do it along with lubricating my speedo cable and doing my fuel injectors(pressurized my fuel system and really cleaned my system)Man what a difference that made. With all that done I got out of there with a little over $500.00.I was suprized and very happy!!!
