Is it possible for the distribution block to malfunction and not allow fluid to the rear ??

I can bleed the front but not the back at all |cussing|

Thank you for your time.

Couldn't bleed the right front on my 79. Turned out to be clogged brake hose. This on an 8000 mile car. Disconnected hose fron caliper, nothing. Disconnected metal line from hose, success! Poked a wire through hose and sprayed brake cleaner through it. Probably better to replace, tho. Mike

I had the same blocked hose problem on the LF on my 78.
REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE HOSES!
Flush out the fluid.
I have seen this problem on old Chevy pickups too!
What problem did you have that you thought bleeding
the brakes would fix!

Ever since I bought the car for my about 9 years ago, she has had brake problems. I've taken it to several shops and they say the brakes were fixed and it wasn't true. They have always been in bad shape.

So she was going to town one day and had no brakes at all. I told her I would bleed them and see what that does for her brakes. Well when I went to the right rear I broke off one of the bleeder valve on the inside and had to change the caliper, I couldn't find anyone to take the broken piece out, any way when I went to bleed the brakes on the rear I got very little fluid to exit.

I really appreciate the comments I get from this forum, people here have been some good help to me since I'm very novice when it comes to a Corvette.

My wife has always said " It's not a car, It's a Corvette !!!!"

I see now that she has owned it for awhile what all the hype is about this car, Corvette, they are truely awesome.

Thank You for your time

Those rubber brake lines will plug up in a heart beat with no warning after they get old ,no matter how good they look on the out side, replace them all if you can.I had one plug up on me last fall, just took a quick ride downtown, and noticed it started too pull to the left when braking ,the left front caliper wasn't releasing all the way, brought it home, took off the caliper and the rubber line was plugged solid. |frown|

Does anyone think its wise,or worth the price on a Corvette,to switch to the stainless, braided, teflon lined brake hoses?

Vette(s): Restored 1979 White Corvette. Bought in 1996, put over 40,000 miles on it, and now in the middle of doing minor repairs.(Interior, rear suspension)
Hi, fine79, I to had the same problem. The rear calaper r/s had a leak and i ran out of brake fluid in one side of the master cylinder soooo the proportioning valve under the master cylinder locked out the rear brakes so now you only can use the front brakes and if you try to bleed the rear you cant but (there's always a but) if you take apart the valve you will see a pin in the valve you need to set the pin back in place (use a pick and push the pin back) it will lock in place & then the valve will be open. Now u can bleed the rear brakes. But, you still have to check for a brake fluid leak. And yes I do recomend steel braded brake lines. They don't give or stretch like standard rubber ones. It will give you a better brake pedal. |thumb|phil
