My left rear poped a seal and fluid is all over the place.  I guess this baby sat for too long.  Anyway, I am looking for some advice about rebuilding with stainlees sleeves and o-rings, or going with an aftermarket upgrade like vansteels force 10 kit.  The upgrade is a lot more expensive, so obviously the question is, are thos calipers that much better than stock?  I put Baer brakes on my 94 vette and that was a major improvement, but these older vettes have pretty good brakes already.  Thanks,

If all you do is normal street driving, the standard brake system is more than adequate. If you do a lot of auto crosses or racing, the upgrades would certainly be a help.

Go to Muskegon Brakes.com, they have stainless calipers for around 65.00 a corner, with a lifetime warranty after they get your rebuildable core.-Flandy

I might thrash it occasionally, but it really is just a street ride.  Muskegon brakes, I will check it out

Thanks-JR

Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.

Try Autozone. They have them in stock for under $60, plus no s/h. And yes they are stainless sleeved.

Original Delcos are more than adequate for a street driven Vette. If already stainless sleeved I'd just go with a rebuild kit. $15 per caliper for original lip seal style or about $30 per for o-ring conversion. I keep some rebuild kits on hand for quick repairs. Pick up (or build) a pressure bleeder.   Mike

If money is not an issue, go with the "O" ring stainless steel caliper and NEVER have a proble again. The "O" ring design also does not allow air to be sucked back in the brake lines should there be any run out. Give our sponsor, Vansteel a call. You will not ever regret doing it right once.

I just went through this and my brake pedal is firmer than ever.

This and a nickel gets you a nickel.

Thanks, went to autozone, 49 bucks plus a refundable core.  They are stainless steel sleeved, but not o-ring sealed.  I will rebuild with the o-rings in the future, at least I have like new calipers to work with.  Thanks for all the help.

A smile and a quarter wont even get you a cup of coffee anymore.

What gives here? I just called a Auto Zone close to me in Marshall, Tx. and they wanted $76.99 for the front each and $73.99 for the rears plus the refundable deposit. Wonder why such a difference in price?

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...
