GOT ONE!

2 to go, one completly drilled (like the first one; not ready to come out yet) and the other one half drilled. I really need new bits now, I'm only creating heat with dull bits. Going nowhere fast would be a good expression right about now.
I blocked the front wheels using metal bars, one on each side and it worked like a charm (those metal bars are actually clamps, but they are about 2 feet long).
What a pain, even if the rivets heads are completly drilled out, I still had to chisel them off, they were almost fused to the rotor.
New question; I'm planning to have a shop measure the runout on my rotors, but from the perspective that they are 33 years old, runout or not, should I just replace them?
Bonus question; "knock the rivets out the back" you said.. this means I have to remove this shield thing?
Oh yeah; (forgot) good tip on using a bolt; which I did, but I guess my bolt was a little too weak; after 3 or 4 tap (I mean slammin'), it bent to almost 45 degree.... I'll find a better bolt next time!

rivet will clear the shield and just fall out the back.

I know exactly what you mean about the rivets becoming fused, 74-454. I had the same problem when I needed to change a broken wheel stud in my left front assembly, and remove the rivets while I was doing so. I drilled and drilled, and chiseled and chiseled--and still couldn't get any more than one rivet completely removed.
What I would really like is for someone to post the procedure on drilling these babies out--it always sounds so simple when others mention the process, and it was anything but that when I tackled it.
Hope you're having better luck with yours...

Got one more!

I tried everything.... got tired of the whole situation and went to a tool rental place; got a puller and that did the trick for one of them. Even with that, the last one is still giving me a hardtime. I gave it a 7 or 8 bath of PB blast and I'll try again tomorrow morning.
About the rivets; even with the rotors out; after I "shaved" them (flush grinded would be a better word) with a dremel and punched the crap out of them; they have not moved .0001
I'm thinking of just leaving them right there. I'm only wondering if it has to be even weight, because I made a few dent on the spindle and the riverts themself even if flush to the spindle, after I tried to punch them don't all look the same (and I drilled on through).
So what's the word on the spindle; does it have to be precisely even or I'm good?
ok,my last resort would bemeasure what you have out (rivet).drill them out take it slow drilling and keep spraying wd40 to cool.as most dont put rivets back in,you should be ok to go.
