I was asking this question through private messages but I think it is an important subject that needs to be discussed for everyone's benifit.

I am installing new SS braided brake lines and the package they came in contained two washers for the set of four hoses. I see in the parts catalogs that have illistrations ....they show only two washers included with the set of four.

During disassembly of bubba's brakes I found one washer on each of the rear lines and one on the right front. Before I put my own brand of bubba on this system I need to know precisely where the washers go and how many.

I have Vette repair books out the quazoo and none of em have this important info, not even the original service manuals. The AIM shows Spl. washers on the front hose-to-calipers only.

I have to assume that these two washers included with my hoses go in this position shown in the AIM and no washers are needed any place else.

Am I a thinking straight or is me an bubba all wet??

Thanks...Rich

I found the same 2 copper crush washers only on my set of braided lines.  I think you are right, they go on the front hose-to-calipers only.   The rest of the connections are all rigid AN connections.   Someone else (Joel??) may know more, so let Rich and I know if we got it figgered right.

Mike, I got everything put together and ready to flush lines and then hook-up hoses to the calipers and bleed air. I tried a trial run with my bleeder and quickly found I had overlooked the vent holes in the MC cap, so I have to wait overnight till the silicone sets up and try again tomorrow.

I found a unique way to block the other open lines while I flush out the old fluid. I tapered-down three wooden golf tees to wedge into the other three open lines while I flush one. Then I can plug that line and go on to the next one. When i'm through flushing I can hook everything up and start air bleeding. If this technique works I can be assured I didn't mix any old with new fluid.

You should have seen those parking brake shoes when I pulled them off. They wern't that worn but the linings just crumbled into my hands.

I'm sorry I don't have dig. pics of the bleeder or this whole process for that matter but I haven't received the go ahead from my wife to get new computer and camera. She is a very smart lady and does all our household finances including making a nice sum of money in the stock market over the years so I have to follow her lead...sort-of !! She keeps me around as her "boytoy"..Heh Heh

Thanks for verifing those washers for me and ending my confusing.

Everybody should do a complete break job on an old Corvette at least once in their life !!!!

On the other hand we all have to have some fun/torture/money waster/fowl mouthed/sheer excitement in our lives. Together 42 years, that GREAT........hang onto each other.
