Got my front suspension apart on the garage floor. All parts rustproofed and painted. My question is do you think I can re-use the coil springs or should I get new ones and from whom? The car only has 43000 miles on it so I thought it might be ok to re-use them. Have heard stories about how it is difficult to find new ones that fit and look right. What do you think?

Regards
Neil

130,000 miles (and 32 years) on the original springs. Still handles well and I can keep my teeth on the bumps. |thumb|

I don't believe coil springs have been any problem with Corvettes unless you're swapping out a small block for a big block, or have suffered physical damage or abuse to the car.

I say unless you have a definite issue with the original springs, clean them and paint them and put 'em back in.

The only time spring replacement is necessary is if they are sagging. If the ride height was okay before, they will be fine. The only other time to change them is due to a weight change, or suspension modification.

if your car doesnt have f-41 suspension

upgrading to f-41 springs can help the handling while sacrificing some ride quality..
