I'd like to adjust the parking brake in my '68 this weekend. I can't believe the Haynes manual doesn't say with direction to move the adjustment nut in order to tighten the parking brakes! Do I click it up to tighten or down to tighten?

According to the factory service manual, it says to loosen the cable first. Then to put the adjusting tool thru the disc and "tighten the adjusting screw by moving your hand away from the floor on both the left and right sides."
Tighten until the disc will not move, then back off six to eight notches (not turns!)
Then retighten the cable so the ebrake is 'set' on the 13th click and takes 80 ft-lbs to pull to the 14th notch.
hth,
Paul

Thanks Paul,
I just finished replacing my parking brake hardware and agree, it's confusing when trying to adjust the P'brake. It took a couple tries, but I was able to get them adjusted. It's nice to have that little brake, especially on a 4 speed.
