Topic: Installed new spring
in Forum: C3 Engines, Driveline and Handling
Man, i'm so excited, i just had to tell people...
i just replaced my completely flat rear spring with a new #330 fiberglass spring. the kit came with 4 ac delco gas shocks also.
i can't tell you how much of a difference it makes. my old shocks were so worn when i took them out, i depressed them and they didn't even want to try to spring back up.
i took it for ride on a back road and it's a completely different car!
the ride is fantastic!
now I finally know why it's called "America's sports car"!
Nice looking ride......How long did it take you to install? How much was the kit? Where did you get then kit? Was it an easy installation?
Hey, thanks.
i got the kit from corvette central. it came with the spring, mounting hardware, and 4 ac delco gas shocks for $439.
installation was easy. i'm not real mechanical but a friend of mine helped me. it took us just over 2 hours to get the old spring and rear shocks off and the new spring and new rear shocks installed. i did the front shocks the following day.
you just have to be careful removing the 4 old mount bolts from the differential. these bolts have a tendency to get locked to the housing and if you put too much uummff behind it, you can break a bolt, or even worse, break the casting. i sprayed my bolts with penetrating oil the best i could and i lucked out, they came out fairly easy.
