I've had a slow leak in my power steering pump for a long time. Finally it turned into a fast leak. I tried three bottles of 'Lucas PS Stop Leak'. (guaranteed to work) Only slowed it down somewhat I guess because of the heavier viscosity. Still left a puddle everywhere I stopped. Ordered a rebuilt pump from O'Reillys. Picked up a bottle of some cheaper stop leak until I got the pump. By the time I got the pump, I had used up the bottle of the cheaper stuff, and, the leak STOPPED! Haven't added a drop in a week. What was this miracle elixir you ask? 'NO LEAK' Power Steering Treatment. Made by Gold Eagle Co. (Sta-bil, Heet, 104 Octane, etc) I was shocked that something like that actually worked. Think I'll keep the new pump a bit to make sure though. Thumbs up for 'NO LEAK'.

Well, congrats... I guess...
I wonder if this stuff is like "fix-a-flat"; which I used about a month ago. When I pulled at the garage the next day, I asked them to see if it was patchable since I didn't know exactly what happened (in the snow) and told them I used fix-a-flat. They stopped my right there and said "once you put that stuff in your tire, then you have to replace it because it eventually eat the core inside".
Just a thought.
My point is that a sealant might do what it has to do, but could create a bigger problem down the road. Hope you find out sooner than later.

I don't know if I agree about the Fix-a-flat. It is highly flammable and other than that the only damage I've seen from it is a rusted rim. People put it in lawnmower tires, which never works, and then I can't pump in the sealant I have because it thins it out and won't seal.
The concern I have about the PS sealant is if it's ok to run that heavier oil in the pump? I think it basically just swelled the seals to stop the leak.

I picked up an Auto Zone pump for mine and it has never worked
right. Leaks all the time. After I get the veritable
plethora of other crap fixed, I intend to put an AC one in, along with
a complete hose job as they are hard and cracked.
I talked to our local Auto Zone regional guy and he says that they have a LOT of returned PS pumps. Since AZ and O'R get basically the same reman stuff, ya might want to find an AC/Delco dealer and go with one of those.
Just my .02

Sounds like a plan if and when this one starts leaking again. The one I got from O'Reillys was pretty funky lookin. Plus, it wasn't the exact design as mine. Their's had a tapered reservoir whereas mine is round with a neck. I'm returning it anyway.

Any chemical additive that claims to "swell' the seals to stop a leak has a bit of a problem. That problem being...WHEN does it STOP swelling the seals?
People put "stop leak" in their transmissions all the time. That's kewl tho...it's good for ME!!
Eventually, the seals swell so much they actually "spit" out.
Shoot, if it stops the leak even for a little while, what have you really lost?(other than the trail of fluid to show you the way home!)
The real concern is possible long term seal damage to the rest of the system. Just my observations...

Might be a good idear. I were gonna suggest that, but...I fergot. If it starts leaking again, at least you know what to use to stop it!

longhorn, this is true about fix a flat. found that out a long time ago. nephew was mechanic and later service manager at goodyear for years. happenned to mention fix a flat one day and told me the samething that once put in i might as well buy a new tire and if someone told me they could fix it afterwards they were full of
and find someone reputable.
also the landscapers where i work use it on their riders and some residule got in air guage and ruined it.

I agree with Longhorn about fix-a-flat not working well in lawnmower tires. It's kinda like viagra; it won't keep it up very long.
