Well in the usual Rook fashion I beat this decision to death and finally pulled the trigger today on the Borgeson Steering Unit. I bought it on Ebay and paid $ 650 total (including free delivery to my doorstep). So I will be starting the tear out hopefully by next weekend.

I'm sure you all will sleep well tonight knowing that this agonizing decision has been made....lol

Finally a good nights sleep! The suspense has been killing me! LOL  Seriously, I hope this works out and it does go in with a minimum of problems (there's always something!  Ouch ). It should clean things up front significantly! Better get bit ready for that trip to Charleston! (you know you want to go)

You are going to be very happy with the decision. I love not having a oil slick under my 73 anymore. Plus the steering is great once again.

Well its all finished....confession time..... I ended up having it towed to the garage owned by a buddy of mine from our local corvette club and had him finish it up for me. He and his guys were super helpful to me and loaned me plenty of tools to do it myself. I pretty much gave up after realizing that I had to remove the headers to get the old box out and felt that with my work schedule and the cruise season quickly approaching that Id let him finish it up and get it aligned.  We ended up putting in a new pump while it was apart. He also took care of the binding linkage in the carb caused by some heavy handed neanderthal (we will not mention any names in order to protect the innocent) who changed out the acelerator pump as well as my PA state inspection.

So all in all I got about $1300 invested in the steering upgrade but...no more drips on the garage floor and I cant wait to drive it....

Time constraints are the main reason I have some one else do things. I know with any thing that's over a couple of hours it will never get completed! (that and no use of the garage) Glad to see it's done! Now off to the paint shop???
