Hey Guys,I got a set of the OEM aluminum Rims for C3 vettes and am trying to find lug nuts that will work with them. I have gone to Ecklers and other C3 online suppliers and they have the ones that OEM style that will work but I would like to know if the mag style lug nuts with washer, with the shank that goes inside the rims will work and are they better? I know that they need to be 7/16 x 20 Rh thread. Here is a link to the ones Ecklers sells: And here is a link to the mag style I have seen on E-Bay Just curious what you guys are using.Thanks..

I replaced mine about a year ago and went with the OEM style lug nuts.  I got them on ebay at a good price.

You MUST use the correct style nuts, or take the chance of a wheel/tire beating you to your destination one day!
The type you are asking about, with the washer/shoulder, will NOT work on the OE alloy rims! You have to use nuts that have a tapered seat on them, that matches the taper of the rims. Different wheels have different tapers, so just grabbing a lug nut out of the ol' tool box may or may not work.
This is not really an area you want to experiment on...play it safe, and get the correct lug nuts!

Thanks for the reply guys... I will order a set of the OEM style ones.

The reason I had asked about the ones with the deeper shoulder and washer is because that is what I used on some old school aluminum mag rims way back when and they worked great for that application.

The C3 rims I have seem to have a flat indent worn into them from where the previous lugs were and they are not  a tapered groove but again, flat indent in the aluminum. Is that normal or did the previous owner of the rims use the incorrect lugs? I can post pics just need someone to walk me through it.

Thanks again guys,

Chris.

I think mine have an indent (impression) in them from the lugnuts also.  I got an OEM set from Keen Parts at Carlisle for a good price.

The rims will have a small, machined depression in them around the stud holes. The nuts have a wide, flat on the part that touches the rim...sorta like a made on washer, and they will scuff the area over time, as they are removed/replaced.

I remember well the older style, "Uni-Lug" rims with the off-set washers, and long reach nuts. "One size fits all!" Still got a few of them washers taking up space in my tool box...they come in handy sometimes!

Hi Chris this EBAY seller: OE WHEELS   will take care of you. They sell a ton of wheels and accessories. They are an extablished business located in Sarasota, Fla. and not some fly by night place. I have been to this place to check out the accessories. My parents live in Sarasota part of the time and I was just cruising by when I got sucked in by the bling of car parts and muscle cars sitting on the lot.

Another good EBAY and Corvette resource is: CORVETTE SOUTH They have a good line of vette stuff and are very helpful. If you contact them ask for Kevin he will treat you right!

Good Luck!
