Vette(s): 1973 Orange Metallic Coupe (orig owner), L82, 4 spd (WR), PS, (A/C & PW (I installed from wrecked 73)), leather, AM/FM Stereo, ran with '65 FI unit earlier & will again some day.

The wheel will hold the rotor on. You do want to check the runout on the rotor first though by using the lug nuts to hold the rotor on against the spindle flange and rotate by hand while observing a dial indicator setup perpendicular to the rotor surface at the outside edge. Keep changing the rotor position on the spindle until minimum runout is achieved. See service manual for the spec.

THe dial indicator is the best way. But you can prop anything solid very near the rotor and watch the gap as you rotate the rotor. Not as accurate, but will give you some idea.
