The fluid level of my power steering was a little low, so I added a little bit of it, but I didn't drive it to see if it's still noisy.
What really bothers me is the tension of the belt (WAY to much slack according to my books). I would like to try to tighten it a little bit, but I have no visual from the top of the engine (alternator and his bracket are clearly in the way), and the graphics from all my books (chilton, service manual and assembly manual) are really not clear on adjusting the belt of the power steering. They describe well all the other ones, but not much about this one.
SOoooo my questions are :
1) where's the PS bracket ?
2) do I have to move the alternator ?
3) is it usually done from the top or the bottom ? (big block)
4) what's the square root of 37 without using a calculator ?

Almost forgot : the noise mostly happen when I turn at slow speed (maybe at normal/fast speed also, but I can't hear it.

The belts themselfs are fairly new and the grooves too "okay" (This is not a show car with a spotless engine).
What else than sandpaper could I clean it with ? If I use break cleaner on a rag within the pulleys, could this cause any problems to the belts?
Also; Should have mentioned before : the noise started (and still is) when I drove in the rain (but not much), for the first time in over a year.
The brake parts cleaner won't hurt the belt. But it may or may not clean well enough. If not go back to Joe's method.
