Has anybody run into a Problem Aligning the Rear end when using the Offset Trailing Arms? The way they Angle in from the Forward Bushing they run into the Frame with about a .250 Shim on the Inside. VBP said they have never run into this before and just sent Me a New Arm thinking that there must be something wrong with the one I got. When the Arm Hit the Frame I was at Zero Toe in so it was getting pretty Close to being Aligned but not Quite there. Richard...

Rich,
I am in the process of rebuilding the front and rear suspension on my '72. I'm also using the offset T-arms. It was a day or two ago I was eye-balling the arms in the frame pocket where the arms attach and it appeared to me that the arm will make contact against the frame. I plan on attempting installation today or tomorrow, I'll know better then. I only HOPE there is no problem with them. It is extremely annoying and frustrating to pay for "quality" parts only to find out that they "are not" AND to have to spend the extra time to re-do all the work, AGAIN!! To be continued.

I can say by the design that there is going to be less total side to side ( Toe ) ajustment. So far it must not of been a problem cause they havn't run into this before. One would think that a Car with Frame and or Alignment Problems this would of Shown up before. My Car I have owned since New and the Hunter System the Car was on showed it to be Straight if we could of just toe'd in the Drivers side a bit more. I wish I knew How many Shims and where they were on the old Arms I pulled out but since that was a Year ago and I don't even have the Arms anymore who knows. Good Luck with Yours....Richard...

When I called Vette Products about the Problem they were Real helpful and insisted on sending me another Trailing Arm No Charge. When I took My Arm out I set it up on my Welding Table and Compared it to the New one and it Measured about .100 diffrent at the Bushing. After installing it I went back to the Alignment Shop and found that there wasn't any diffreance at all. 10 Minutes with a Sawzall and I was in Alignment. I trimed about a 1/4" off the Gusset where it is so Close to the Frame. I really don't know why I had this Problem cause VB&P sez they have never run into this before. However My Car has the Trailing Arms Up agaist the Frame on Both Sides to get a 1/8" Toe in. If my Frame was Bent one would think that both sides would be all the way one way or another. Once We got this Aligned the Car looks Really Good on the Hunter System and the Tech Said My Car looks as Good as any He has Had. A Tape measure Showed less than 1/8" diffrence in Wheelbase. The frontend dosn't have any Big Shim Stacks or anything. The design of the Offset Trailing Arms is going to limet the total amount of inboard Ajustment. I hope that This was a Problem for Me and me only and thats what it sounds Like.

This may be a longshot, but...is it possible your side yokes are worn, and pulling the t-arms in at the rear
This would make them closer to the frame.
Where are(were) the t-arms actually hitting the frame? At the front, or more towards the hub area? I'm curious about this one!! I know a lot of folks have used the off-set arms, and I've seen a few on some cars. Now I'm interested in figuring out what the differences may be. Maybe there's some difference in the frames back there for the '80-82 cars.

The Arm Was Hitting the Frame right behind the Bushing, just above the Alignment Shim Cotter Pin. At the Inside of the Square Hole in the Frame that the Trailing Arm Sits in. If I remember Correctly the Frames of the 80 - 82 Cars were made a Bit Lighter. I know my Frame Dents Real Easy from using a Floor Jack on the Side Rails. Why there would be a Diffrence in the Pockets I'm not Sure. Richard...
