Guys,
My pitman arm wiggles on the stem of the valve body.  I haven't replaced it yet, because I want to first examine whether the stem is worn, or the pitman arm.  If the stem is shot, it won't do much good to replace the pitman alone.  Anyone had this experience?

If I can get away with just replacing the pitman arm, then I'll replace my idler, too with one of those lube-able heavy-duty ones.

Any joint can wear.  You just want to replace the one that is bad.  Don't let some play in the power steering valve mess up your diagnosis.

I re-did the whole steering setup on mine it wasn't hard and not too expensive. Before I rebuilt my power stereing valve the ball stud was pretty floppy, there was a huge difference after I rebuilt it. Same with the ram both were cheap and easy to rebuild. I'd be a little surprised if your pitman arm was bad, that's a fairly stout chunk of steel but then again anythings possible Big%20smile

Evidently my steering valve stem is worn, not the pitman arm.  Vetterx has a rebuilt valve for $79 plus $100 core.  I don't know if a worn stem is a good rebuilable core (I e-mailed him to see).
