Vette(s): Coupe 74 - 454 Drive it like you stole it!
When you take a 1100$ (US) suspension kit, ship it to Canada, pay custom fees and Canadian taxes from a retailer who then add the province tax because he's a commerce; throw in the conversion rate and his profit (he's allowed up to 17% middle man fees by the law), you end up with a 2500$ (Can) quote (ok, it includes a set of 250$ bushing kit).

And BTW; exchange rates for the past 5 years have not been what they were 10 years plus ago.  2500$ Can is now 2230 US.  So exchange rate is not something to consider anymore at less than 10%. The taxe on products is 15% over here.  THAT'S what you try to save on; not the exchange rate.

SO, the merchant cuts me a break at just about 2200.  It's not his fault; that's the way it is in Canada.  If I do it myself (order directly), I might save 10%, or I might not.... cause the merchat gets a break on transportation and customs fees for quantity..... I don't!

I've been sleeping on this one for a week now and I think I found a solution.  I live 30 minutes for the border; it's not a stretch for me to drive to Plattsburg or Burlington.

Here's where I need your help; I need to find a Corvette shop (or just a good shop), where I can order the parts, have it shipped at his place and once he has it all, I'll drive down there on a Friday night; drop the car there, spend the weekend in that area and drive back on Sunday night after he's done installing it!

First; is it possible to get it all done on a weekend ? (I could take a Friday off if it helps).  And two; anybody knows a guy who would accomodate me in one of those areas (Plattsburgh or Burlington ?)

BTW; if you do the math, I would end up spending the exact same thing as if I was to get it done here in Montreal, BUT, I will have a vacation weekend out of it for free!

That's the way I see it.
