Hey, I have a 81 and need to replace the power brake booster. Do I need to take the dash off to get to the bolts for the booster. Or is there another way.

Not a lot of fun, but you don't need to remove the dash, (ZERO fun).
Step 1. Remove the driver's seat to simplify your time under the dash, piece of cake, 4, 5/16" bolts, 5 minutes tops. Put 5/16"-18 x 1" or 1-1/4" socket set screws or carburetor mounting studs back in the holes replacing the original bolts, makes it lots simpler to line up the seat for replacement.
Step 2. Find a skinny nimble little buddy to put in there to remove the top 2 bolts.
Step 3. Feed him enough beer to keep him around till it's time to put the top 2 bolts back in.
A long 3/8" extension helps if you can't find the skinny guy.

Man, I got under the dash today and could not find the upper left bolt. There is to much stuff under there for me to see or feel it. That whole set up is crazy. I feel like kicking the car and cursing the vette gods. I know it gets done all the time. I will try again later after the blood drains from my head from being up side down. Is there a easyer way to do this.
It's not easy, but I did it. Without standing on my head or taking the seat out. I removed the dash, not a hard job, removed the A/C outlet vent on the left side, and took out the steering column drop. Then I could see all four bolts. The laying upside down under the steering wheel method don't work good for us taller, older and bigger guys. I couldn't find the upper right bolt for a wiring harness, and the upper left bolt was a hassel before I took everything apart. I invented some new curse combinations doing it. I took the master cylinder off and secured it with a piece of wire, off to the side. Have fun?
