Every once in a while my 71 vette will leak power steering fluid.  The first time I noticed it it was just on the right side of the car, the las time it was on both sides.  I think it only leaks if I park the car with wheels in the turning position, not straight forward.  The spots are about 12" in diameter after the car had set for 3 weeks.  I drove it yesterday and parked it with the wheels straight and I don't see any spots underneath.

I think the leaks are coming from below the steering box  and about the same location on the passengers side.  I haven't been able to jack the car up yet but the are several small diameter hoses and a steel tube in the area where I think the leak is coming from.

I'm hoping that I just need to tighten a few hose clamps since this car had only been driven  1000 miles in the 15 years when I bought it.  Any suggestions before I start in to this???

Thanks
Bob

my first idea is the steering cylinder.. in can be the cylinder itself... not that difficult to rebuilt with those rebuild kits available omn the market.. it can be the 2 hoses ..the connection to steering cylinder or to the steering valve.

but actually a steering leak should be mostly on the left side.. or maybe half way.  steering cylinder is the only part that comes a bit more to the right side .. so that is my first suspect

From everything that I've read, leaks a re a common problem. My proportioning valve leaks, but not all the time. I replaced everything except that when I swapped out the engine. I might do it this winter, but it's not that bad to check the power steering fluid every time I take the car out since I'm already checking the oil.
