Vette(s): 1977 L48 just purchased 07-20-05 this was a one owner corvette,had been in a garage for the last 4 year on blocks.I have the orignal sales invoice (purchased from Anthony AbrahamChevolet)for the total price of $10550 dollars.In MIAMI,FL.
I have removed my power steering pump and need to get the pulley off ,my question is does the hex nut on the front of the pulley have right or left threads and after i get the nut out is the pulley going to come off or am i going to have to press it off are what!thank you glenn

If there is a nut on it, it will be a normal thread(right handed). Once the nut is off, the pulley will come off with only minor "persuasion".
If there is not a nut, a puller will be required.

And most likely a keyed shaft that does not require a press fit...

My '80 was pressed on. The tool that Autozone loans will work but
is a bit of a pain. If you can find someone who has the snap-on
one, use it. It just slides over in the groove and the bolt
tightens down.
REMEMBER:
When you put it back on, make
sure you have it lined up EXACTLY with the drive pulley for it.
If you don't, you will spin the belt off. Trust me...
