Hey boys,

Got a question for ya...

My Power steering cylinder, and my control vavle are OK. THe last tiem I drove the car 1 and 1/2 years ago before we took her apart. I'm doing all this front-end, and rear-end work and I totally skipped over two MAIN pieces. I'm running out of money, and the lowest price I found was $99 each from J&D corvette. There is a $55, and $65 dollr pieces on eBay with a $25 dollar core. Or I can buy $40 and get all the seals to rebuild the cylinder and control valve abd bring them to my honest mechainc and he can give it a shot. What do you guys think? I mena honestly, what are you paying the extra $70 for, labor?

Louis,

I bought the P/S Renew Kit from Corvette Cental for $200.  http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5 Z50000050g~Z5Z5Z5AAZZF~P199.00~~~e:\temp\TOUTR211RLRQ.dbf~S1 R211R1QE67851555547a~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000050G

The kit includes a rebuilt valve, cylinder & 4 new hoses.  Turns out that the parts came from Lone Star Caliper http://www.lonestarcaliper.com/

You should check with them to see if they can do it cheaper.  You'll need to send you old units in as cores.

Good luck,
Anthony

Hey Anthony,

Thanks for the great tip. I called em up. His brother is the one you have to call for retail. He quoted me $160.45 for just the Cylinder, and Valve. And that price includes the shipping. I didn't need the hoses becasue I bought em from Ecklers a long time ago. I need to figure out my gearbox now. THat is an extra $120.00. He said 10:1 they need to be replaced. He claimed that the gears are pretty tough in there. I'll check the linkage, and make sure there is no lag, and no drips. But You know, I'm still saving for the cylinder, and valve. Last tiem I drove the car, the response was ok, and the noise came from the pump which has already been replaced. Any thoughts?
