hi all
what is the proceedure for replacing the Rear Crossmember Bushings?
are they hard to get out?
it looks like i have to bend the tabs back before i can remove them?
anything i should know before i attempt this?
oh, my crossmember is off the car and on the bench !

Well, if you already got the thing off, you've done the hardest part!
You are correct in assuming the "tabs" need to be straightened out first. Soak the outer edge of the bushings before hand, so it'll be a little easier to remove the bushings. You may be able to knock them out with a suitably sized hammer, or you may need to press them out. Some(most, actually) are a pita to get out, but you might get lucky.

ya, getting the crossmember off was hard !( i had a post about how to do that also)
hopefully i have a big enough hammer !

bushings came out real easy !!
i did as you said, i soaked the edges with PB blaster a couple hrs before i started working on it. once i got the tabs bent back, a few hits with the big hammer and they popped right out.
i was lucky this time !

I never did get my crossmember out when Joel rebuilt my diff... Really a lot of fun to r&r the diff. that way.

Thanks Joe. Good to know. Hopefully I won't have to do that again. I did pry on mine, just not hard enough I guess. Next time I'll get medieval with that sucker!
