Vette(s): 1980 all org. with 18000 act. miles dk claret with matching interior..Eagle alloys ..loaded..excellent cond.
I have a 18000 mile 80 vette that has the three bolts that hold the plate to the spring in place sheared off. Don't know if previous owner tried to replace spring and broke them or a stress factor.Looks like i will have to get out the ez outs. Think they are 17mm bolts. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Yep! Just put in a new mono spring and when I went to take it out the old one, one of the bolts was broken in the hole. Must be a common problem.

I plan on replacing the rear spring (9leaf)on my 80. Is it necessary to remove the "Y" pipe for clearance? Looks like a tight fit.

I have seen rear springs (9 leaf) priced from $99 to $139. Is there a difference in quality from some manufacturers?

Hi
Go with a heavy duty rear end cover.mono spring,
mine came from Vette Brakes+Products,a new spring
retainer(with bigger bolts than you may have)
and get back crusin!
