Good post. It's been a long time from my last box rebuild to now. It became cheaper to replace then rebuild in the shop. My own car could be a different story.

Flaming River makes a close ratio box for Corvettes, and also sells a rebuild parts kit... http://www.flaming-river.com/box5.htm

I plan to get rid of the steering box altogether with this bolt in kit..

I'm thinking about steeroids also, I think my steering system needs a full rebuild and I'm not sure what to do. There's alot of slop in the steering and when there are ruts in the road, I have to be on my toes. The rag joint looks terrible, but i'm sure alot of parts needs to be replaced and steeroids looks like an easier solution. It just looks real expensive. Any group purchases going on? |headscratch|

Yeah,Steeriods would also take some weight off the front end,but price is an issue. There was a group purchase going on on another forum awhile back, dont know if it still is,or if I shopuld mention it on this site.Flaming Rivers box version(see above link) would be cheaper

I would be interested in the quick ratio box if the perfoamnce was good. Right now it is hard to hold the car straight if the road isn't perfectly flat. I have 255's on the front, new 550lb springs, new lower control arm on right side, new shocks, new ball joints, new links and bushings on the stabilizer bar and New idler arm. If I rebuild the rest of the parts I want to make sure it will feel great when it is done. If the quick ratio box can't do that, then steeroids might have to go in somehow....I just am not sure. |sad|

I havent redone my front end yet,but I have sway bars front & rear with poly end links, new rear bearings, etc. with 245's at all 4 corners, and if the ruts are big enough my vette likes to follow them too.I dont think its all steering related.
