thats pretty cool... when you do it.. let me know.. i might do that as well if the results are good
I have removed and restored my brake booster. If the dash is out and the column with all support brackets is out, it is not too bad. The column comes out easily. The dash is a royal PITA!!!!!! Getting the dash back in is even worse!
Three out of the four bolts are easy to access. The top left bolt can be accessed fairly easily with a swivel socket and extensions and you can see the nut if you look carefully. I wrapped my swivel in masking tape so it would not flop around while attempting to get the socket on the bolt. Once I had the socket on the bolt a litle pressure broke the tape so it could swivel freely. You will need a magnetic socket to hold the bolt when putting it back on.
Since mine is a four speed car I also unbolted the clutch safety switch from the pedal support bracket which made it much easier to access the top left bolt.I could not see the bolt until I removed the clutch safety switch. Once you remove the single bolt holding the switch on it will rotate out of your way.
Also, if you are going this far it is pretty simple at this point to remove the peddle support assembly to rebush and lubricate the pedals. If your car is a four speed car you may find that the small pin where the clutch rod attaches a bit worn. I choose to find a low mileage clutch pedal to replace my original because I did not want to take a chance after I put the car back together.
I am fairly short and the seat was out which also helped.
Good Luck! I actually thought it would be worse than it was.
