Pretty simple. With the Vette on jack stands so the suspension is hanging, clamp a sturdy C-clamp to the spring about 6-8" from the bolt. With a good floor jack, position it between the spring bolt and the C-clamp and jack it up until the tension is off the bolt. Remove the bolt and replace the cushions.
If you have a rear stabilizer mounted to the tops of the trailing arms you'll need to remove those brackets first to get the spring bolt out.

  You also might want to check that rear spring for flatness...If so, time to go.....

The clamp(or Vice-Grips) is used to keep the jack from sliding up the spring as you jack it up. The curve of the spring causes the jack to slide towards the center of the car...the clamp keeps it in place.
