Thanks guys for the help. (Originally posted in Fuel, Emission, etc forum)

I should have also put another request (for help) at the same time. Here is an anecdote from the Vette Dreams saga:

Early during the trip a workshop told me that the swaybars (made by Rancho) were attached incorrectly on the rear swaybar. Looking at it myself, I pointed out that the nylock nuts on the front sway bar were not turned through the nylon! Four thousand miles later, the attachment assembly at each end of the rear sway bar fell off somewhere near Chicago.

One thousand miles later in the UK, I read a warning notice on the front sway bar: "Don't drive with only one sway bar!" Having taken the front sway bar off, I have found the attachment assembly at each end of the sway bar somewhat distorted and obviously fitted wrongly.

At last, after 6000 miles, there is no agonizing screeching sound as I bounce along the road! Wonderful silence.

Now my request(s): I have also tried to find a source for Rancho products. Can you advise me of a place that might stock the attachment assemblies for Rancho swaybars?
Do polyutherthane bushings invariably squeak? If so, can one fit natural rubber bushings on a Rancho swaybars, or do I have to look for an original set of '71 GM swaybars and congruent parts?
I look forward to your replies,
Thanks and regards, |cheers| David aka Pigpen

I did a search on Google http://www.google.com and found Rancho, but it looks like they are only about truck and SUV suspensions. Rancho's home is http://www.gorancho.com

As for squeaking... yes... unless you lube them up real good... which is what you should do to them. Check with a parts store to see if they have the lube to use.

With all the polyurethane bushings that I have gotten they give you some lube to use. Someone somewhere once referred to it as whale snot. Well, yeah, I guess it could be referred to as that, not that I know what whale snot should look like. |laugh|

But you do have to lube the parts or it will make noise and worse yet add wear to the bushings.

I have replaced all the bushings on my C3, and most on my C5 for that matter (as I modded it), with poly bushings. With the lube, nothing squeaks.

Good luck

as for the sway bars you may consider just scrapping the ones you have.. they may have been incorrectly attached because they are for the wrong vehicle.

if you consider doing this contact one of the C3VR sponsor vendors or ..

or for a specialty place
