I was almost set on going with the KYB Gas-adjust shocks, when I noticed in VPB's catalog that they do not recommend these shocks with a rear composite monospring. My 1980 has a fiberglass rear spring that a previous owner had put on it. Thats all I know about it. Does anyone have any experience with this setup- pro or con?

Not familiar with your set-up, but can definitely recommend Edelbrock IAS shocks. It's amazing how accurate their advertising is on this product. They're not cheap, about $75 each, but they perform. You could contact Edelbrock and see what one of their engineers say about your situation. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
I put the KYB Gas Adjust Shocks on about 1.5 years ago. Excellent with the original steel spring. Recently put on VBrakes composite, they said the spring rate of the KYB is not correct for the composite. They recommend the Bilstein Sport for the composite spring. I have not changed it out yet. The ride is still much better with the composite spring even with KYB shocks. I plan to put the Bilstein Sports on in the fall. Note: they mention that there is a difference between the regular Bilstein and the Bilstein Sport. They recommend the Sport as a best match with their composite spring.
