Hi everyone. Once again I am seeking feedback and advice!
I ordered the TRW 340# rear spring from Muskegen and have it installed then thought why don't I replace the shocks at the same time. I don't
usually buy top of the line but usually don't buy bottom of the line either.
The KYB Gas adjust seem to be the best bang for the buck and I was wondering if anyone has tried them.
My driving will primarily be cruising with both my wife and I in the car (average weight) and we prefer some comfort but also good handling.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hey Martin,
I put the KYBs on my '79 last year and I'm very happy with them. The Vette handles great with them!
They definitely seemed like the best all around deal for the $$$.
The Bilstiens, the Edelbrock shocks, etc... are more expensive and probably perform better when pushed to the limit.
My useage of my Vette (did'nt) does'nt justify the extra expense.

I am running the KYB with my TRW spring and have been happy with the overall ride too.

I hear you Martin I am the same way as you desribed. I put the Monroe gas shocks on mine. I couldn't be happier with them. I do have to say though I haven't driven the car more than 50 miles since doing so though.
I looked hard and just didn't feel it justified to buy top of the line for what little driving action the car does see.
I bought mine off of EBAY and they came from Muskegon Brake. Less than $100.00 for all four so I felt like I got a prerry god deal.

I rebuilt the front and rear suspension on my75 last spring. Rebuilt front a-arms with urethane bushings, new ball joints, tie rods ends and Bilstein shocks.
Had the rear trailing armes rebuilt installes urethane bushing and ss park brake kit. Installed a TRW 340# fiberglass spring and Bilstein shocks.
NOW THE VETT HANDLES GREAT 
VERY HAPPY WITH THE SET UP 
VERY HAPPY WITH THE SET UP I just got the Q-JET rebuilt and will get back on when I get from the sunny south (Florida) tired of SNOW

I've got the same spring on all our vettes and run KYB's on all. I'm very happy with the performance for the price.

Thanks for the feedback.
KYB's it is then. I don't do enough heavy driving to justify the price. As it is they are about $65.00 per shock and special order here. The others are over $100.00 per shock.

Great question - thanks for asking it - how often do you buy shocks? - if you are a fun time cruiser like me the ride is everything and I want to buy shocks one time and be over with it. I upgraded Monroes to KYB's and they were good but I always heard that the Bilsteins were so radically different you'd know it as soon as you got in the car. I felt that was sales talk bullcrap and then I had a chance to ride in a buddies 1973. My comment was "how come mine rides like a tank and yours moves in sync with the road" his answer was the reason I sold the $170.00 "pretty good" shocks on ebay for $50.00 and spent $250.00 for the one I should have bought the first time - my advice find someone in a close club that has Bilsteins and judge for your self. If moneys the issue stay with the KYB's there pretty good - the Bilsteins are a whole different experience.
But you know its all relative my buddy has a 64 and my monroes were like butter compared to his aftermarket ride...
