HEy guys...my dad and I looked at the shocks and came to the conclusion that: we need new ones. Everyone on here knows that I'm trying to build a kick @$$ car ona low budget. So far all is well. I've dropped ina round 4K already, and My love for Vette's has grown; so I'm not to back out. For me it sthe only car. MY question is: what shock do you think will be the best, and the cheapest price?

Thanks guys,
-Louis

did you modify your front suspension in any other way ?

if not.. then I would say just go get some ac delco gas shocks..

IMHO, i dont think fancy (80+$/wheel) shocks are going to help a stock suspension to the degree that they are worth paying that much for.

I think I'm just going to go ahead and get the stock AC delco ones anyhow, there $44.95EA. on Ecklers. Does anyone know where I can get them cheaper?

Thanks,
-Louis

I just put the AC Delco shocks on my car (replacing the factory originals) and the smoothness of the ride was immediately and dramatically noticeable; even my wife immediately took note as a passenger. That being said, I'm not one really after "speed and handling," so these shocks might not be the best choice for you if you're loking for something more towared the "racier" side of things.

All that aside, if you still want to use them, here is probably the cheapest way to get them: go to AC Delco's web site, get the part #s, then find a local AC Delco distributor(s) in your town. Call around, supply them with the part #s and ask for their price. I guarantee you will get them way cheaper than what you will pay in any of the Corvette catalogs. Try this for any parts you need. You'll be surprised at how many are available, and way cheaper taking this route.

Good luck, let me know how yopu make out.

Well, it looks like I did not make out. Whoever was listed in my area does not sell ACDelco shocks. One of them is not even an ACDelco carrier for anything anymore. If I go to www.madvet.com I can get a set for $159.99 That works out to be about $39USD for each. A set to them is all 4.

Check out Summit Racing if you're still shopping, sometimes they have deals! For things like shocks, you may be better off going to a vendor that doesn't specialize in just vettes. Do some shopping around.

Go over to Ebay. The Last Detail regularly offers Delco gas shock sets with a buy it now price of $104(+$15 s/h). I bought a set earlier this year, just "because"! One of these days I'll need them.
Right now look up item no. 7938031023. Ends Sunday afternoon, but will probably be listed again if you miss it.
Maybe someone can come up with a clickable link to that auction.

The last detail is a great vendor! I bought most of my interior parts from them because they gave me the best deals. No problems with them ever.

I bought a lot of stuff off Summit, however they only had generic shock in their catalog. It came up brand: unknown. I ain't touching that with a 10- foot poll. Plus I'd rather buy ny car parts from a realy vendor, not some dude off eBay. eBay is nothing but a scam. Trust me on this.... I've done it.
