Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Tried a search thread on this subject and came up empty handed. Surprised the ?%&$ out of me.
Am going to get new shocks for the Vette this winter or next spring and was wondering what you all prefer? Is absorption rate a factor when looking at price?
I have the composite spring on back and VB&P are the only ones who sell a shock specifically set up for the monosprng, but it's only $29.95 ea as compared to the Bilsteins which are $69.95 ea.
Also, for those of use who aren't wrench heads (no offense) is this an easy D-I-Y'er? I'd like to start saving some money and perform some of the simpler repairs myself if I can.
Thanks for your help in advance guys, you're the greatest!

I don't really have a suggestion as to what shocks would be the best for your spring setup. But I do know that the job of swapping them out is pretty easy (I guess I should put it in the context that if I can do it anyone can!
). Make sure to have some good penetrating oil on hand.

I am also installing a fiberglass spring this winter. VB&P and everyone on the "other" forum highly recommends the Bilstein Sports. I had this spring in the car a couple of years ago, but kept the KYP shocks and the car rode like crap, so I put the steel 9 leaf back in. This time I'm going to change the shocks to the Bilsteins and all should be well.
I'mn also going from 3.36 to 3.70 rear gears while I'm in there..... That should give it the kick in the pants that I want.
