Hey all,

    Quick question - does anyone have insulators either above or below their front springs? Mine did not come out with any and I didn't think about it at the time when I put the new ones in. The are now making noise like you wouldn't believe. I hat to think about popping the lower ball joints again....Confused

I bettin you're going to tell me to pop em..Wink

Hey Paul,
Prolly more of a question than an answer, but here goze;
Is there any way to apply a teflon spray or graphite to those squeaky springs?
That's what came to mind so I thought I'd throw it out there.
Kevin

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
Is it really the springs or could it be the control arms and or sway bar bushings.  I just finished the front end of mine with poly bushings on all parts. MUCH better handling and lots quieter front end excess noise.  New springs as well.  I am very satisfied. LOL

I lubed the poly control arm and sway bar bushings. It's definitely the springs. You can feel the vibration in them when the noise starts. Me under the car Shocked and my dad bouncing the suspension.....

I just changed over to a single leaf style suspension on the '81 and even though the springs I removed were not original, there were no insulators, but never any noise either.

Don't remember any of the Sharks having any insulators on the springs. Are they indexed properly in the frame, and lower control arm? The ends of the springs should fit into small "pockets" on the top(frame) & bottom(control arm....
That's my only idear...

I believe they are.  I took extra time to make sure they were sitting in the stops...

Consensus with a couple of reliable suspension guys - poly control arm bushings telegraphing squeaks to the springs. Options? Try soaking them with silicone - or - change them back out for rubber - NOT!!

I'll go with the spray and see what happens.
