Everything is out of the cockpit except pedals and steerig column. I'd like to paint the brake renforcement.

undoing the bolt on thr spline at the base of the column and disconnecting the interlock wire makes removal of the column look easy. what am I missing?

thanks

Go easy on the splined flange removal, the collapsable column parts can get damaged very easily. Completely remove the bolt holding the splined flange.

Found my own snag! What sort of socket fits the spline pinch bolt? The bollt appears to have twelve (?)flutes (??)like a double torx!

thanks and regards

David

A regular 12 point socket will fit.

It should come off without much force. Soak the spline and flange with a good penetrating oil like Silicroil or PB Blaster. Where the flange is slotted, wedge a screwdriver in there to spread it slightly. Take note of the position of the spline to help you get it back on in the same position. |cheers|
