Ok I am in the process of getting a new old steering colum rebuilt and ready to install. The new colum has cruize but I dont think I want to hook that up. (old one did not) Somehow the steering colum that is in there is from a 76(figured that out when attempting to change the steering wheel.)

.... my question is aside from removing a few bolts and unplugging the colum is there anything special I should do to make the reinstall easier? Any prior knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks

Pretty much a remove/install deal. The only thing I could think of that might be an issue would be the wiring connector, but if the one that's in there now is a different year, and IT hooked up ok, then the other one should also.
Just take yer time, and it should go easily.

Well got the new colum back today and lookin good. Will begin reassembly tomorrow. The rebuild was done by GM tilt as referenced here on  this site. Good guy and fast turn around. Now I have to get horn parts and new horn button for this colum since the stuff from the 76 colum wont work.

What color do you need? I have a couple of buttons here from later cars(later than mine). I think I have a red one, and a black one...

I have two of these...one Black, one Red. I also found and extra one for my '74 I forgot I even had!

These are supposed to fit from '77-'82.

P/M me if you're interested...
