I bought an aftermarket steering wheel from e-bay but now cannot find a darn hub for it that will work. Autozone wanted like 100 bucks for one thats more than I paid for the bloody Wheel.
This is the steering wheel
Any suggestions before I really have an anger management issue????
Thanks Will

I saw a great interier of someones 80 or 82 and it had a nice looking wood console and shift plate and wheel. I am going to convert mine to wood. I already have the componets and was looking to swap the wheel out first because I need the clearance with the c5 seats that I am putting in. williammoore2 2008-08-07 17:35:00

That wheel looks like it should be a direct bolt on. Try www.grantproducts.com they might be able to help you or contact Eckler's or Mid America.Aaron1976 2008-08-07 17:39:40

What exactly is ment by direct bolt on there is a threaded rod with a gear in the old one and without some type of hub the new one will not bolt to where the old one is.

William...that looks to me like it will bolt right on to your existing hub, unless you car does not have the factory hub/wheel.
The steering wheel is held to the hub with several screws around the center of the wheel. You should be able to simply remove the screws from your wheel, take the wheel off, and replace it with the new one. The horn button/retainer should go on the new one the same as your old one...
Unless we're missing something here, I don't see that you need anything else to put the new wheel on....Are the
'78> wheels/hubs different than the older cars??
Are pics of your existing wheel possible, so we can see what you're working with?

I can take some pics tomorrow after work. I looked at the wheel and was completly unsure of how to remove the existing hub. Thats what I thought to do at first but I am a bit green with some of this stuff. I have the wheel off the column already, And I have also decided to replace the column and add one that has tilt to make it a little more accessable with the seats. but want to get her running till I get to that point.

I have the exact wheel on my 77, bolted right on. Bought directly from Grant.
I bought an aftermarket wheel back in 2004 from Mid-America.
Took the horn button off, took the wheel off (like 3 bolts) put the replacement on, put the horn button back on.
Took about 30 minutes.
Just have to keep the wavy springs in the same order.
That is a direct replacement.
